Oct 3 – SC-147 w/ WG-75, Traffic Alert & Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), will meet at RTCA to discuss revisions to the Terms of Reference (ToR), review schedules for the ACAS Xr and Cooperative Surveillance MOPS, and review the planned revision to ACAS Xu MOPS.
Oct 7-10 – SC-135 w/WG-14, Environmental Testing, will meet in a joint plenary with EUROCAE WG-14 at RTCA Headquarters in Washington, DC. The group is completing an internal review on Sections 1-3, 8, 9, 21, 22 and Appendix A of DO-160H. The plan is to complete the disposition of internal comments and then prepare Sections 16, 20 and 26 for an internal review. The group intends to initiate Final Review and Comment/Open Consultation (FRAC/OC) on DO-160H, soliciting comments from the public, in early 2025.
Oct 7 & 11 – SC-216 w/WG-72, Aeronautical Information Systems Security, will meet in joint plenary at EUROCONTROL, Brussels, Belgium. They will continue work on a revision of DO-392/ED-206 and development of two new documents entitled Information Security Management System for Aviation Organizations and Standard on Aviation Data Security. Additionally, the group is working on a report to provide clarification on DO-356A, a change one to DO-356A for new supporting information. These documents are expected to be published in mid to late 2025.
Oct 8 – SC-222 w/WG-82, Aeronautic Mobile Satellite (Route) Services (AMS(R)S), will meet virtually in joint plenary to approve release of MOPS DO-262G/ED-243D and MASPS DO-343E/ED-242D for FRAC/OC. Publication of these documents is projected for mid 2025.
Oct 10 – SC-224, Airport Security Access Control Systems, will meet virtually in plenary to continue work on DO-230N – Standards for Airport Security Access Control Systems. They are reviewing all sections for updates and are considering adding a new section on artificial intelligence. Publication is expected in late-2025.
Oct 15-18 – SC-214 w/WG-78, Standards for Air Traffic Data Communication Services, will meet at Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA, to review, discuss, and approve FRAC comments for one document: DO-353B/ED-231B Change 1 Interoperability Requirements Standard for Baseline 2 ATS Data Communications, ATN Baseline 1 Accommodation (ATN Baseline 1 – Baseline 2 Interop Standard). The group will also continue its work on a new standard for ATS Data Communication Verification Test.
Oct 17 – SC-244 w/WG-129, Take-off Performance Monitoring (TOPM) System Strategy, will meet virtually in joint plenary for final approval on an internal report with recommendations for possible standards development or revision to current standards regarding TOPM issues. The group will also discuss revision to their ToR related to the recommendations in the report. Both the report and the revised ToR are scheduled for presentation for acceptance by the end of the year.
Oct 18 – SC-227 w/WG-85, Standards of Navigation Performance, will meet in a joint virtual plenary to consider a motion to approve the disposition of comments on DO-236F, the MASPS for Required Navigational Performance, and DO-283C, the MOPS for Required Navigational Performance. Once approved the group will submit the documents to the Program Management Committee for publication in December 2024.
Oct 24 – SC-235, Non-Rechargeable Lithium Batteries, will meet virtually in plenary to complete comment resolution of items from DO-227B’s second FRAC. The group is aiming for publication in late 2024.
Oct 24 – SC-243 w/WG-128, Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) Development Assurance, will meet in a joint plenary session at EUROCAE Headquarters in Saint Denis, France. The group is completing the work on an RTCA Internal Paper that will be used to scope changes needed to DO-254. They will recommend that the PMC add scope to the SC-243 ToR at their meeting in December 2024. The hope is to produce Revision A of DO-254 in 2027.
Oct 25 – SC-159 w/WG-62, Navigation Equipment Using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), will meet in joint plenary at RTCA Headquarters in Washington, DC. The group will discuss finalizing DO-292A for presentation to the Program Management Committee (PMC) for review and publication in December and the status of DO-373A’s FRAC comment resolution for publication in early 2025. They will also continue work on DO-401A/ED-259B and the initial MOPS and CIE for Verification and Validation. as well as finalizing a BeiDou White Paper.
Oct 25 – SC-217 w/WG-44, Aeronautical Databases, will meet in a joint plenary session in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, hosted by Collins Aerospace. The group continues to make updates to DO-201C and hopes to publish the new revision in 2025.
