Sep 4-5 – SC-244 w/ WG-129, Take-off Performance Monitoring System Strategy, met at UK Civil Aviation Authority, Crawley, West Sussex, England. They are creating an internal report with recommendations for possible standards development or revision to current standards regarding TOPM issues. The report is scheduled to be completed later this year.

Sep 16 & 20 – SC-206 w/WG-76, Aeronautical Information and Meteorological Data Link Services, met at EUROCONRTOL, Brussels, Belgium. They continued to work on a new turbulence standard, a revision to DO-358B and an internal report to include recommendation(s) regarding possible standards to support aircraft-based meteorological observation dependent applications. They also approved the release of DO-364A/ED-335 which adds newly defined AIS and MET service descriptions for Final Review and Comment / Open Consultation (FRAC/OC). This document is scheduled for publication in 2025.

Sep 26 – PMC, Program Management Committee, met at RTCA headquarters, Washington, DC. RTCA approved 5 documents for publication and five updates to the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the technical standards currently under development. PMC Member Clay Barber, of Garmin International, is retiring this year and was appointed the inaugural PMC Member Emeritus.

 

Sep 26-27 – SC-214 w/WG-92, Standards for Air Traffic Data Communication Services, met in Dublin, Ireland to discuss updates to the Terms of Reference and to DO-224D, Signal-In-Space Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS) For Advanced VHF Digital Data Communications Including Compatibility with Digital Voice Techniques.

Sep 27 – SC-239 w/ WG-119, Low Range Radar Altimeter, met in plenary at RTCA Headquarters. The joint group is making good progress on estimating a new date to enter FRAC on the Low Range Radar Altimeter Minimum Operational Performance Specification.

Sep 30 – SC-230, Airborne Weather Detection Systems, met virtually to continue work on task “Perform Analysis and Test to Determine Susceptibility of Airborne Weather Radar Systems to Radio Frequency Interference” to include in an RTCA Report. The initial version is an internal report and will be completed late this year. The final version, to be publicly released with supporting test data, is scheduled for completion in mid-2025.
