EUROCAE and RTCA Engage Global Leaders to Discuss Aviation Security Challenges and Solutions
Washington/Paris, August 7, 2024
RTCA and EUROCAE are pleased to announce their continued collaboration in hosting this year’s highly anticipated summit, dedicated to the critical and ubiquitous topic of aviation security. Taking place virtually on October 23, the summit will gather top experts and key stakeholders from the aviation industry to explore advanced strategies for strengthening aviation security.
Both organizations are dedicated to defining the necessary balance between aviation security and safety, emphasizing the importance of a robust trust framework. Recognizing that system security is only as strong as its weakest link, the summit will address security across the complex, evolving aviation ecosystem.
“We are delighted to host this summit in partnership with EUROCAE “, said Carol Huegel, President and CEO of RTCA. “Our panel of experts will present attendees with an opportunity to hear from aviation stakeholders and regulators around the globe about working in collaboration to mitigate security threats through aviation technical performance standards.”
Anna von Groote, Director General of EUROCAE, added, “This summit provides an invaluable platform to delve into the complexities of aviation security. We invite everyone in the sector to join us in these crucial discussions, so we can collectively address and overcome the challenges facing our industry”.
Summit Sessions:
• Panel One: Tracking Cyber Threats and Risks in Aviation: Security threats are encountered from all vectors, and we must be vigilant in the air and on the ground. This panel will set the stage by highlighting the current and new cybersecurity threats, and strategies for stakeholder collaboration from the ground to the aircraft to ensure aviation security.
• Panel Two: Balancing Security and Safety in Aviation: Aviation must be secure while keeping aircraft operations safe. This session will define security by examining how to maintain safety amid security threats, and addressing the roles of spoofing, jamming, and security standards.
• Panel Three: Advanced Technologies Broaden Aviation Security Challenges: As the community of aviation operators grows, both in the air and on the ground, stakeholders will discuss opportunities for sharing the requirements to maintain and improve our certainty that aviation remains safe and secure.
In addition to these panels, the summit will feature flash talks with high-level guests from the sector.
These discussions will enable EUROCAE and RTCA to refine existing standards and shape future standardization programs, supporting future security needs of member organizations.
