Washington/Paris, October 7, 2024. RTCA and EUROCAE are thrilled to announce the distinguished lineup of speakers for this year’s Aviation Security Summit on October 23. Top experts and influential stakeholders from across the aviation industry will gather virtually to share cutting-edge insights and strategies for enhancing aviation security.
Both organisations are committed to striking the right balance between aviation security and safety, highlighting the need for a strong, trusted framework. Recognising that security is only as strong as its weakest link, the summit will address challenges throughout the aviation ecosystem and across the entire product lifecycle.
Sessions and confirmed speakers:
- Panel One: Tracking Cyber Threats and Risks in Aviation: Security threats are encountered from all vectors, and we must be vigilant in the air and on the ground. This panel will set the stage by highlighting the current and new cybersecurity threats, and strategies for stakeholder collaboration from the ground to the aircraft to ensure aviation security.
Speakers: Jeff Troy (Aviation ISAC), Alexis Ulliac (Thales), Xavier Coppin (Skyguide), and Olivia Stella (Southwest). - Panel Two: Balancing Security and Safety in Aviation: Aviation must be secure while keeping aircraft operations safe. This session will define security by examining how to maintain safety amid security threats, and addressing the roles of spoofing, jamming, and security standards. Speakers: Sam Masri (Honeywell), Timo Warns (Airbus), Lilian Baker (Wisk), and Dorota Broom (Civil Aviation Authority UK).
- Panel Three: Advanced Technologies Broaden Aviation Security Challenges: As the community of aviation operators grows, both in the air and on the ground, stakeholders will discuss opportunities for sharing the requirements to maintain and improve our certainty that aviation remains safe and secure. Speakers: Nikita Johnson Needle (Rolls-Royce), Mike Vanguardia (Boeing), Greg Sleppy (US Navy), and Ben Nagel (CyberBen).
In addition to these panels, the summit will feature three flash talks by: Philip Windust (FAA), Michael Goodfellow (ICAO) and a representative from EASA.
These discussions will enable EUROCAE and RTCA to refine existing standards and shape future standardisation programmes, supporting future security needs of member organisations.
