Mar 5-7 – SC-235, Non-Rechargeable Lithium Batteries, met in plenary at RTCA Headquarters in Washington, DC. The group is working through resolution of items from DO-227B’s second Final Review and Comment (FRAC). The group is aiming for publication in mid to late 2024.
Mar 8 – SC-217 w/WG-44, Aeronautical Databases, met in a joint plenary hosted by Garmin in Olathe, Kansas to adjudicate and disposition comments received in the Final Review and Comment/Open Consultation (FRAC/OC) process for DO-200C, Standards for Processing Aeronautical Data. The group approved the resolution of FRAC/OC comments and will hold a follow-up plenary to approve to send the document for publication at the June meeting of the PMC.
Mar 14 – PMC, Program Management Committee, met at RTCA Headquarters in Washington, DC and approved one revised document (DO-230M – Standards for Airport Security Access Control Systems) for publication, now available in the RTCA Store. The Committee also reviewed and approved several changes for Special Committees (SCs) in their Terms of References (ToRs), received updates on important SC activities, and discussed many significant topics impacting technical standards and the aviation industry.
Mar 18-22 – SC-223 w/ WG-108, Internet Protocol Suite (IPS) and AeroMACS, met in a joint plenary hosted by EUROCONTROL in Brussels, Belgium. The group finalized the actions to be taken to initiate FRAC/OC on DO-379A, the Internet Protocol Suite (IPS) profiles document. The document will be available for comments by the public in May. Mar 22 – SC-159 w/WG-62, Navigation Equipment Using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), met in joint plenary at RTCA Headquarters in Washington, DC. The group discussed status of DO-292A finalization for presentation to the PMC for review and publication, status of DO-373A’s FRAC release, continued work on DO-401A/ED-259B, and the initial MOPS and CIE for Verification and Validation as well as a BeiDou White Paper.
Mar 22 – SC-240 w/WG-117, Aviation Software Standards, met in a joint plenary at RTCA to continue adjudicating member comments on the draft document addressing Commercial Off-The-Shelf Software to be used in aviation software. The group will also discuss the report outlining the work previously done by the Forum on Aeronautical Software (FAS). The work of the FAS is now part of the scope of SC-240 and EUROCAE WG-117.
