Critical NextGen Implementation Issues—
Focus of Fall Symposium Keynote Speaker and Panels

Michael HuertaFAA Deputy Administrator Michael Huerta will kick off RTCA’s Fall Symposium as the keynote speaker September 22nd in Washington, D.C. “The Technologies Fueling NextGen” is a one-day examination of the key issues affecting the NextGen implementation. Industry and government experts will explore how emerging technologies in ADS-B, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, data communications and global harmonization will pave the way for NextGen, plus you’ll hear from the many stakeholders working to ensure that the technologies are built, certified and deployed when needed.

Huerta was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as FAA Deputy Administrator on June 23rd. He served on President Obama’s transition team, held senior positions in the U.S. Department of Transportation in the Clinton Administration and was managing director of the organizing committee for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

With a leading role in the NextGen deployment, Huerta will serve as the Designated Federal Official of a new RTCA committee focusing on near- and mid-term NextGen implementation. The NextGen Advisory Committee will hold its first public meeting September 23, 2010. Additional details are forthcoming.
