This link permits you to download a blank Word document to your computer
that contains the formats described in the Basic Document Style Guide. When you open the
document template, you will be given an option to "Disable Macros" or
"Enable Macros." Enabling the macros will give you access to shortcuts described
in the Basic Document Style Guide. If you choose "Disable Macros" the document
template will still provide you with the correct formats but without the shortcuts.
Use of this template in constructing documents will significantly streamline the final
formatting done by RTCA prior to publication. Experience has shown us that
"stabilizing" a document during this final formatting stage is most successfully
accomplished by exporting the Word file(s) to another program. Using the template provided
and following the style guide will greatly facilitate that process and result in quicker
publication.
BASIC DOCUMENT STYLE GUIDE
The style guide is formatted as an RTCA document using the prescribed
styles. This guide contains detailed instructions for Word style types, table of contents,
page layout, notes, lists, tables, and figures. Time saving tips are also offered for the
various word processing tasks.

to guide authors when creating Minimum Operational Performance Standards
documents.
